Week 1, task 3
This ad uses examples of existing success to demonstrate how
the Apple computer will benefit the classroom for new users. The Ad makes use
of the title of Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium, which it then
shortens to MECC, to gain benefit of the presumably highly regarded, official
educational network endorsement of their product lines. The statement “31,000
student hours later, we still love Apple Computer” is the main feature heading,
giving the highest importance to the fact that there has already been much use
of the devices in classrooms within the state. The advertisers then give an
example of how the programming of the computer can benefit educators and
students under the heading “The kids-and the teachers-love Apple” to demonstrate
the computer’s capabilities. Accompanying these proclamations is the imagery of
the happy classroom of students and their equally pleased teacher to solidify
the messages detailed within.
